Obituaries: Issue Two

Illustration by Don B.

This obituary section honors the lives of those in our community, both housed and unhoused. However, please understand the variations in obituaries are often due to the tumultuous nature of homelessness and we do not always have the full information around someone’s life or death. We wish to honor the lives of our community members to the best of our ability, even if we only know their street names or have limited information.

If you have an obituary you would like us to include please contact Kate at hohsharewv@gmail.com or call (304)238-9484.

Richard Huff
June 18, 1964 - April 21, 2021
Richard was a friend to many, often sharing a table and conversation at House of Hagar and YSS Winter Freeze Shelter. He was polite and grateful, usually trying to help out one of his friends. We pray he is at peace and held in God's forever love and Home.

Rusty Lemasters
August 25, 1970 - July 9, 2021
Russell “Rusty” Stanley Lemasters, 50 of Short Creek, WV, passed away at 6:57 PM on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. Rusty was born on August 25, 1970 in Wheeling, WV. He is the son of Russell E. Lemasters and Linda Mae (Forrester) Lemasters. Rusty worked construction and laid carpet throughout the area. He was Christian by faith and was a graduate of Brooke High School. Many will remember Rusty for his love of fishing and hunting and riding ATVs and being an avid Steeler fan.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
